Biblical Principle For Entrepreneurs: Lesson One – Test the Spirit

Many people read the bible as a manual to get to heaven so as they go through the pages they are seeing themselves through the gates. This is awesome to imagine but there is more to the bible than the afterlife. In John 6 Jesus said, "the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." The Message translation says every word I have spoken to you is a spirit-word and so it is life making. So in reading the bible I'm mindful of principles that can equally apply to Business. One such principle is found in 1 John 4:1 which says, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God..."

So you have thought upon a brilliant idea, it comes from your spirit. But at that moment it is only brilliant in your mind. What do you do? Unfortunately I have seen people who run ahead with implementation of the idea only to realise it is a dead end. That is like seeing some great miracle worker and running after them only to realise later that they are actually working through other spirits not of God. You would have lost much along the way.

So whatever idea comes to your mind test its efficacy, the world is bigger than your head if you don't put enough information into it. Do basic research to answer the questions "is it being done elsewhere, is it being done in your town or country, can I make people want to pay for it, can I put all the pieces of the puzzle together in my head". I have seen people so excited about a new thing they thought of but didn't really know how it's supposed to work. If you cannot explain the A-Z of it then you still have work to do. When you take your idea out you must have tested it and be sure it's a winner. Let it fail because of something else not because you didn't test it enough to know it's not a winner.
